BEGINNING
Our journey began in 1988. Initially, we were an IT company (at the time, a small business) developing software solutions for various industries. Two and a half years later, in line with new legal opportunities, we officially registered as a company, and our activities expanded to include the sale and maintenance of PCs and local networks. For the first 10–12 years, this remained our main focus.
MULTIMEDIA
Between 1999 and 2000, we established a multimedia content production department, developed our own multimedia platform for creating various applications (initially on CDs), and launched our first educational computer games featuring Garfield.
By 2002, the multimedia department expanded into DVD authoring, and we quickly became the largest DVD authoring studio in the region, working with many major clients.
Later, the department further developed its capabilities in 3D animation production and the localization of graphics and video.
DISTRIBUTION
In 2005, we also launched our own DVD distribution, becoming a licensed partner for companies such as BBC, ITV (Granada), All3Media, Discovery Channel, and eventually Nickelodeon.
Our titles, including Only Fools and Horses, Poirot, Miss Marple, SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora the Explorer, Paw Patrol, and Midsomer Murders, set sales records.
After the decline of DVDs, the distribution department shifted its focus to designing and producing various children's products based on both our own and licensed brands.
LOCALIZATION
The multimedia department also expanded to include a sound studio, where we began producing dubbing and music.
In 2007, we opened our first dubbing studio and soon became the exclusive dubbing partner for Nickelodeon channels.
Due to increased demand, we opened studios in Belgrade and Ljubljana, as well as a second location in Zagreb between 2012 and 2013.
Our expansion into other areas of content localization, primarily subtitling, began in 2016.
With centralized management and a large team of translators, subtitlers, and proofreaders, we expanded into additional languages and now provide localization services in seven CEE languages.
PRODUCTION
By the end of the 2010s, we rediscovered our true passion – content creation.
Between 2018 and 2020, we developed a software platform for producing mobile apps and games, including XR (AR/MR/VR) technologies.
Just before the pandemic, we launched our first AR app related to "Paw Patrol" collectible cards.
At the end of 2022, we established our own brand, APPic, which produces a wide range of content, including children's content.
To support this, we assembled a team of writers, musicians, singers, actors, directors, illustrators, and 2D/3D CGI animators and modelers, and began production.
TODAY
Today, NET operates 15 studios in Croatia, Slovenia, and Serbia, as well as an office in Romania. We localize content for all major European and global production companies – BBC, CBS, Discovery Channel, DreamWorks, HBO, NBCU, Netflix, Nickelodeon, Paramount, RTL, and others. We continuously produce original content, expanding our library every day. The catalogue includes 3D CGI and 2D animated shows, live-action/CGI combinations, and live-action content. Our music library is regularly updated as well.
